This month 32 years ago the first ever text message was sent, “Merry Christmas”. 1 year later text message became publically available, 7 years later went mainstream, and now 32 years later 99.9% of people still don’t know how to text to get dates off dating apps (Merry Christmas by the way, I hope you’re enjoying your holiday season so far:).

The #1 reason guys don’t turn their matches into dates

When most guys text girls on dating apps it looks like this…

He is perfectly respectful, trying to relate and have a deeper conversation, and yet I virtually guarantee he never went out with her.

How can I guarantee that? What’s wrong with this text conversation?

Simple, it isn’t going anywhere.

What most guys get wrong about dating apps is they try to get to know the girl on the app. This doesn’t work.

Why?

Say you match with your hypothetical dream girl. You’re attracted to her, she’s attracted to you, and if you got to know each other you would make a great partnership.

Despite you two being a perfect match, if you don’t go from match to phone number within the first 10 messages she will never see you again. You’ll just get lost in the sea of messages, just another match that never led to something.

The average woman gets dozens of matches a day on dating apps, and it makes it impossible to get attached to any single person on the app. There are just too many other options.

So this brings me to my fix…

Structure your conversations

The difference between guys on dating apps who get dates and guys who don’t is that guys who get dates lead every conversation to a date.

This doesn’t mean having every line scripted (it’s impossible, I’ve tried:/), it means having a general framework you move girls through to make sure the text conversation doesn’t drag on.

Here is my simple in-house sauce of a structure:
Open with a predictable one-liner 
2-4 playful messages 
Check intentions
Close (get her number)

This is a ~6ish message framework that gets the girl off the app fast without feeling forced.

Feel free to steal it, but please use it responsibly (don’t want too many broken hearts on my hands).

By getting her number after only 5 messages and within the first day, he has disconnected himself from all the other matches in her inbox, and is now “the guy setting up a date with her” not “just another match”.

If you already get matches and you start following this structure with every girl you match with I guarantee, you’ll get more dates than you are currently (or start getting them if you aren’t already).

I recommend doing the same thing for your conversations off the app over text, but that’s a hack I’ll save for next week.
